Event Details
A two-day high-level gathering in Lilongwe, Malawi, featuring workshops, panel discussions, and a guided tour of the Malawi Parliament Building.
2026 Thematic Areas
Understanding Government Policy & Civic Processes
Many faith leaders feel disconnected from the machinery of government. This session demystifies policy processes, budget cycles, and legislative structures, equipping leaders to engage government as informed advocates, not passive observers.
Curbing Corruption & Strengthening Accountability
Corruption is one of Malawi's most acute development challenges. We examine how faith communities can use their moral authority and grassroots networks to demand transparency, expose wrongdoing, and build cultures of integrity from the ground up.
Addressing Extreme Poverty & Promoting Community Resilience
Faith organizations are already on the frontlines of poverty response. We explore how to scale impact through advocacy, social enterprise, and collaboration, turning compassionate response into structural change.
Supporting Those Living with HIV/AIDS
As international funding for HIV/AIDS programs declines, faith communities must fill the gap. We address stigma reduction, community care strategies, and how faith leaders can advocate for continued government commitment to those living with HIV/AIDS.
How We'll Learn Together
Panel Discussions
Expert practitioners and government officials engage in structured dialogue with summit participants.
Workshops
Hands-on sessions equip participants with practical tools, frameworks, and strategies for civic engagement.
Parliament Tour
A guided visit to the Malawi Parliament Building, bringing the legislative process to life and removing its mystique.
Guided Tour of the Malawi Parliament Building
One of the most powerful moments of the summit is a guided tour of the Malawi Parliament Building in Lilongwe. For many faith leaders, Parliament is an abstract, distant institution. The tour makes it tangible.
Participants will walk the halls where national budgets are passed, see the chambers where laws that affect their congregations are debated, and meet with parliamentary staff who demystify how citizens and faith leaders can effectively engage the legislative process.
The goal is simple: when faith leaders understand how Parliament works, they are empowered to engage it as advocates, as voters, and as moral voices that hold it accountable.
