Cloud of Hope

About the Summit

An interdenominational platform mobilizing Malawi's faith leaders to engage the public square with integrity, compassion, and conviction.

Mission & Background

Faith as Malawi's Greatest Civic Asset

Malawi is one of the most faith-oriented nations in Africa. More than 80% of its citizens identify with a Christian or Muslim community. The churches, mosques, and faith organizations of Malawi command a reach, trust, and moral authority that no government agency or NGO can replicate.

Yet this potential has largely remained untapped in the arena of public policy and civic leadership. Cloud of Hope was founded on the conviction that this must change: that Malawi's faith leaders are called not only to care for souls, but to shape a just and thriving society.

The Faith Leaders Advocacy Summit is the direct expression of that conviction: a structured, high-level gathering that moves leaders from passive observers to active agents of national transformation.

Our Inspiration

Inspired by the ONE Campaign

The Faith Leaders Advocacy Summit draws inspiration from global movements like the ONE Campaign, coalitions that united civic, religious, and cultural voices around a shared agenda of justice and accountability, ultimately moving mountains in policy and public consciousness.

We believe Malawi can write its own version of that story. A story rooted in the prophetic tradition of faith, where leaders speak truth to power, stand with the marginalized, and hold government accountable to the people it serves. The Summit is where that story begins.

The Religious Prophetic Role

Committed to the Common Good

Every faith tradition represented in Malawi carries within it a prophetic mandate: a call to stand with the poor, to speak against injustice, and to hold the powerful accountable. This is not a political statement; it is a theological one.

The Summit grounds itself firmly in this “religious prophetic role”: the idea that faith leaders have a unique responsibility to speak into the public square, not as partisans, but as moral voices committed to the common good of all Malawians, regardless of tribe, denomination, or party.

This is non-partisan, interdenominational, and deeply Malawian. It is rooted in the shared values of integrity, justice, compassion, and transformation that unite pastors and imams, bishops and civic leaders, across all divides.

Our Core Values

What We Stand For

Integrity

Grounded in truth, we call leaders to exemplify the moral courage needed to confront corruption and injustice.

Justice

We believe every Malawian deserves equal opportunity and protection under the law, and faith leaders must champion that reality.

Compassion

Care for the vulnerable, those in poverty, those affected by HIV/AIDS, is not optional. It is a core mandate of every faith tradition.

Social Transformation

Real change happens when faith communities move beyond their walls to actively shape the communities they serve.
